I grew up playing volleyball, winning city and provincial championships in Edmonton and Alberta. I’ve continued playing in recreational leagues in both Canada and Australia, and today I still compete in indoor and beach leagues. I’ve coached junior high teams and most recently worked with Valor’s 15UM and 14UM teams the last two years. Outside of volleyball, I’m passionate about the outdoors: hiking, mountain biking, and wakeboarding. And I love watching my three kids achieve new milestones. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do together this season!
Hey, I'm Meena and I will be assistant coaching the Valor 14U boys this season. I’ve played four years of club, school, and beach volleyball. I’m very passionate, motivated, and inspired as an athlete and coach, and I’m extremely excited to see what this season brings!
I played as a middle blocker at the 3A provincial level and have been coaching with Valor for three years—one year as an assistant and two as a head coach. I’m also an NCCP Level 1 certified coach. Away from volleyball, I’m a professional chemist, a licensed fireworks operator, and a dad of four. Hosting international students from Spain, Colombia, Japan, France, and Luxembourg has been another highlight for my family. I’m excited to bring my energy and experience to this year's athletes.
I started playing volleyball at 13 with the Pandas U14, later moving on to NAVC and Nooks U18. I’ve coached through Pursuit Volleyball clinics and helped run open gyms for U13–U16 players. I was born in Cairo and moved to Canada when I was five, and most of my extended family is still in Egypt. I just graduated from high school and am starting my studies in kinesiology at the University of Alberta. I’m excited to inspire our players and watch them grow this season.
I played club volleyball for the Grande Prairie Wolves, winning the Western Canadian Championship in 1991, then went on to play college volleyball at GPRC. I’ve coached high school boys, U14 girls’ club, and grade 7 girls’ teams. I still love playing sports myself—hockey, golf, and now pickleball. In the summer, you’ll find me on the golf course or fishing from the boat. I’m eager to be back in the gym and build on last year's success.
I’ve been playing volleyball since grade 6, continuing through school, beach, and now adult leagues in Edmonton’s Tier 1 Men’s and Coed divisions. I’ve coached at the Winter Games level and love bringing that experience back to Valor. Away from the gym, I enjoy camping, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and cheering on my kids in basketball, volleyball, and fastpitch. I’m looking forward to another year of competitive play and growth.
